Welcome to my house! You can click on the photos to shop. We live in a suburb south of San Jose that resides in a beautiful valley that looks a lot like Italy, where you can grow some of the best produce you have ever had in our rich soil. We purchased our 3-acre, 6-bedroom, 5-bath home in December 2015. The house was bank owned, striped down with nothing inside and zero landscaping. Over the last 5 years, we have slowly been making our way through the house and acre-ridge giving it our personal touch. Living in California is VERY expensive, so if I could have built my own house, I would have done a few things differently. However, where we live and the space we have, I have everything that I need to live a full and blessed life.

When it comes to the style of our house, I looked through so many books, magazines, and web pages trying to decide on a theme. Amber Lewis book Made for Living changed my design vision. I wanted pieces that were classic and fit with the style of the house. I would say I went to California eclectic with transitional values and a modern twist. I didn’t want a Pinterest home. I wanted something that felt like us and had all the things we love and value. I made all my furniture pieces very neutral and then pop color to the pillows or a book. Our walls are painted Benjamin Moore, Decorators White, Kitchen cabinets Benjamin Moore, Revere Pewter and Island Sherman Williams Caviar, Bookshelf cabinets Sherman Williams, City Loft.

Getting modern organic home decor for my house

One of my favorite pieces of modern organic home decor is my round table, which was made by a local woodworker. He took old picnic tables and built us a beautiful espresso table that will last a lifetime. This is why I love organic style home decor. I actually designed the table myself. It was a very fun process. The same wood maker made all 3 tables in our house and outdoor space. I know a lot of these guys are out there, and the quality of their pieces is much better than what you pay at Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn. The quality will be real wood, and you can make the table the exact size and shape that you want. I love these barrel boucle chairs, and I linked them in the photo. These home decorations are actually from Amazon and have held up so great these last 2 years!

Organic Home Decor For Our Dining Room

We love to entertain in our formal dining room, which is adjacent to our sitting room. We have drinks in our mini bar console side tables, and we sit around in the swivel chairs and catch up until dinner is ready. I always loved the idea of having a dining room in a library filled with treasures we collected while traveling, so that the conversation never runs dry.

Home Decor Ideas For Our Living Room

When it came to our living room, having a Pinterest perfect photo wasn’t going to work for us. We love cuddling with the girls, and a loveseat and 2 chairs weren’t going to cut it. Creating a space for our family of 4 to hang out and watch TV called for a big couch! If I had to hear “she’s touching me” one more time, I was going to lose my mind. So for this modern organic home decor, I splurged on a huge Crate and Barrel couch that I am obsessed with. It doesn’t stain or flatten out. The best part about the couch is that it is totally customizable.

I really wanted a chaise lounge but didn’t want to close off my open floor plan, so I opted for a bumper on the second side. The fabric is so high quality, and nothing shows. I also opted for a boho-style rug and leather ottoman. I went back and forth for so long about a wood coffee table or ottoman, and we were over telling the girls to stop banging toys and denting the coffee table so the ottoman won out. I also added this popular boucle fabric bench by the window for a modern twist. It was inexpensive, so when the trend wears out, I won’t feel bad about it.

Modern Organic Home Decor For Outdoor Space

Our outdoor space is always a work in progress. We constantly have outdoor workers and big trucks dumping mulch, dirt, and compost. This summer, I stole away a spot on the back porch off the sunroom to create a little spot to drink morning coffee or watch the sunset with some wine over the mountains. Thank you for visiting our home!
