Spring Cleaning Essentials Plus My Best Tips & Tricks*contains affiliate links

I’m one of those people that looks forward to spring every year. We live in California and by the time spring rolls around my family and I are very ready for the gentle sunshine, flower blossoms, and outdoor activities. But, before I dig into the garden or get my patio set up, I set the foundation for the season with a thorough spring cleaning deep clean and it fills me with joy.

Something in the air gets me so excited to clean and refresh my home after a long winter with my husband, two energetic girls and a dog. It’s truly therapeutic and has become an essential ritual that marks saying good-bye to winter and confidently transitioning into the new season.

I know not everyone loves a spring cleaning deep clean as much as I do. However, it’s not only the actual cleaning that I love and that is so meditative for me. It’s really that moment when I’ve cleared my home of clutter, dirt, and energy that’s built up over the winter. And then I sit on my couch and bask the clarity that comes with a clean space.

It’s a wonderful feeling that I so want for you, too. So, here are my best tips for spring cleaning your home and the products that help me make it easier.

Invest in Products that Make Cleaning Easier on Your Body

I’m at that place in my life where I see the value of investing in cleaning gadgets that do the work for me. Not only does it make it easier, but it also makes it faster.

My favorite way to start spring cleaning is by reclaiming the sanctity of my floors. Clean floors look and feel wonderful as we shed our heavy socks and layers. Starting with the floors helps ground me and create a sense of freshness and tranquility.

Deep Clean with a Steam Cleaner

Once I finish vacuuming, I like to take my spring clean to the next level with this portable steam cleaner. It cleans, sanitizes, and deodorizes all at once, making everything feel fresh. Plus, the steam cleaner I use is more lightweight and portable than the others I have seen. It is easy to take it around the house to clean all the floors, upholstery, and so on. I love that it disinfects everything without me having to use any chemicals. Plus, it makes my floors look brand new every time I use it. Hands down, if you want your home to feel like your home has been professionally deep cleaned, then this steam cleaner is for you.

To deep clean smaller surfaces, I use the Bissell Steam Shot. If you’re a regular reader, you know I’ve talked about how much I love the Steam Shot before. This small but mighty handheld steam cleaner is like magic, getting rid of dirt and grim in hard-to-clean places like around the faucet, cabinet handles, and small appliances.

Make Fresh Air Part of Your Spring Cleaning Ritual

Nothing feels as good as opening the windows on those first spring days to let in the bright sunlight and fresh air. Not only does it clear the energy of your space, but it makes me so happy to let in the light. I have several very large windows in my home that let in so much lovely light, but dirt and grime on the windows can dampen that good feeling. So clean, streak-free windows are a priority for my process.

This combination window cleaner is a serious game changer. It is a window-cleaning solution sprayer, squeegee, and wet vacuum all in one, and it never leaves any streaks or drips on the window. No paper towel or glass cleaner needed!

Deep Clean Your Sinks in Spring

After a long winter indoors, spring is the perfect time to deep clean the sinks.

I also like to use the Bissell Steam Shot for the sinks. But when I need more elbow grease, I use these deep-clean brushes. The long handles and skinny bristles help you get into the sink drains and all those hard-to-reach places.

I like to use this sink cleaner and polish in combination with the brushes. It’s gentle but hardworking, quickly removing stains and making your sinks shiny again. I also absolutely love the Scrub Daddy Sponge for cleaning the sinks or anything else really. It’s my go to everyday dish sponge that totally lives up to the hype.

vacuum storage bags spring cleaning

Spring is a time for putting away what you don’t need and maintaining what you use all the time

Vacuum storage bags aren’t just for when you’re traveling — they’re great for long-term storage, too. These space-saving vacuum storage bags are perfect for stowing away my winter wardrobe as well as winter comforters that we won’t use as the weather gets warmer.

For winter blankets like quilts and throws as well as winter bed sheet sets, these soft zippered storage containers are perfect.

To sum it up, spring cleaning is a time to get into all the nooks and crannies and clear the clutter.

The way I do that is: vacuum and deep steam clean everything, clean the windows and let the light in, deep clean the sinks, and swap out winter seasonal items to make room for spring. It’s also really helpful to have some hardy microfiber cloths for all of those miscellaneous tasks you’ve been using paper towel for and a great non-toxic all purpose cleaner like Meyers brand to wipe away winter germs.

I hope these tools make spring cleaning is as therapeutic for you as it is for me.

Spring Cleaning Bonus Tips

Last thing, don’t forget to add flowers to your freshly cleaned space. They just make everything better. I found this incredibly unique bookend flower vase with text that says, “The Mystery of Growth.” It adds extra special touch to your home decor, and I can’t recommend it enough. Personally, I keep mine in the kitchen to prop up my cook books and friends are always asking me where I got it.

Happy spring cleaning!
